Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is assisting a North Dublin manufacturing group seeking a Senior Purchasing & Supply Chain leader. You will shape purchasing strategy, lead demand planning, optimise inventory, and strengthen supplier partnerships while driving operational excellence.

You will balance customer service, working capital and procurement costs, lead a high-performance team and collaborate with commercial and operations colleagues across Ireland and the UK.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management position.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or distribution environments.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing and inventory optimisation.
  • Strong experience in demand planning, forecasting and supply chain performance management.
  • Practical knowledge of S&OP and working capital optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the Purchasing & Supply Chain team with a culture of accountability and improvement.
  • Develop and execute purchasing and supply chain strategies that support business objectives and growth.
  • Act as a key contributor to the wider Operations Leadership Team.
  • Own and continuously improve demand planning and forecasting processes across Ireland and the UK.
  • Lead planning systems development, including S&OP and IBP processes, and supplier performance management.

Job description

Excellent role for someone with Purchasing and Supply Chain Management experience, based with a manufacturing company in North Dublin. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to influence business strategy, lead transformational change and drive operational excellence across the company. You will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing and supply chain strategies that ensure security of supply, optimise inventory investment, strengthen supplier partnerships and support continued business growth.

The successful candidate will lead purchasing and demand planning activities, balancing customer service, working capital and procurement costs while driving continuous improvement across forecasting, inventory optimisation, supplier performance and supply chain planning.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and develop the Purchasing & Supply Chain team, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Develop and execute purchasing and supply chain strategies that support business objectives, growth and operational excellence.
  • Act as a key contributor to the wider Operations Leadership Team.
Demand Planning & Forecasting
  • Own and continuously improve the demand planning and forecasting process.
  • Use historical demand trends, market intelligence, order book analysis and sales forecasts to improve planning accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial teams across Ireland and the UK to align supply with customer demand.
Planning Systems & Process Development
  • Lead the ongoing development and optimisation of the AGR demand planning and inventory management system.
  • Drive adoption of digital planning tools and best practice processes.
  • Develop and embed robust Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes across the business.
  • Lead all purchasing activities, including replenishment planning, supplier scheduling and inbound supply management.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to improve quality, service, delivery performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage supplier performance through clearly defined KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Supply Chain Performance
  • Optimise inventory levels while ensuring exceptional customer service and product availability.
  • Monitor stock value, stock turns, working capital and forecast accuracy.
  • Reduce slow-moving, obsolete and excess inventory through effective planning and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strengthen supply chain resilience through risk assessment, continuity planning and supplier diversification.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Warehouse and Finance teams to maximise OTIF performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Support new product introductions, product lifecycle management and SKU rationalisation initiatives.
  • Develop and report on key purchasing and supply chain metrics to support informed business decisions.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management position.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or distribution environments.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, purchasing, supplier relationship management and inventory optimisation.
  • Strong experience in demand planning, forecasting and supply chain performance management.
  • Practical knowledge of S&OP and working capital optimisation.
Technical & Commercial Skills
  • Experience using ERP systems and demand planning or inventory optimisation software such as AGR or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and commercial decision-making capability.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement best practice, supplier performance management and supply chain risk mitigation.
  • Excellent project and change management experience.
