Job summary

Tier 1 Irish Main Contractor in Galway is seeking a Project Manager to join the delivery team on a major mixed-use development. You will lead the project, coordinating the construction team and ensuring progress aligns with programme, quality, safety and commercial objectives.

You’ll oversee planning across multiple phases, resolve constraints, manage subcontractors and design information, and maintain clear communication with senior management, the client and the site team.

Qualifications

• Significant Project Management experience with a main building contractor.
• Track record delivering substantial building projects in Ireland or the UK.
• Experience leading Site Managers, Engineers and construction teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction programming, sequencing and project planning.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant construction, engineering or technical qualification.

The Company

A leading Tier 1 Irish Main Contractor is seeking a Project Manager to join the delivery team on a major development in Galway City.

The project is a significant mixed-use scheme bringing together multi-storey apartments, hospitality, retail and commercial accommodation, leisure facilities and associated amenity space.

It’s a sizeable Galway project with a number of different building uses and interfaces, requiring an experienced Project Manager capable of looking beyond individual work packages and taking a broader view of delivery.

The Role: Project Manager

You’ll play a key leadership role on the project, taking responsibility for coordinating the construction team and ensuring the development progresses in line with programme, quality, safety and commercial objectives.

Rather than simply managing daily site activities, you’ll be looking ahead at upcoming phases, identifying potential constraints, coordinating design information and ensuring the necessary labour, subcontractors and resources are in place.

You’ll work closely with senior management while acting as an important link between the site team, design consultants, commercial team, subcontractors and client representatives.

Must Have Requirements

• Significant Project Management experience with a main building contractor
• Track record of delivering substantial building projects in Ireland or the UK
• Experience leading Site Managers, Engineers and construction teams

Preferred Experience

• Major mixed-use or multi-storey residential experience
• Experience delivering projects with multiple building uses or phases
• Commercial, hotel or large apartment development experience beneficial
• Tier 1 or large main contractor background advantageous

About You

You’ll be someone who can take ownership of a major project and provide clear direction to an experienced construction team.

You’ll understand what needs to happen several weeks and months ahead, not just what is happening on site today, and you’ll be comfortable making decisions when programme, design or subcontractor issues arise.

Strong communication is essential. You’ll be dealing with everyone from Site Managers and Engineers through to consultants, commercial teams, senior management and the client.

Most importantly, you’ll have previously delivered substantial building projects and understand the level of organisation and leadership required to keep a development of this scale moving.
