An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the delivery of a major industrial/pharmaceutical mechanical services project in the Midlands. This is a hands-on site-based role, overseeing the full project lifecycle from mobilisation and procurement through construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.
The successful candidate will take ownership of programme delivery, technical coordination, commercial performance, quality, health & safety, and stakeholder management while working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Site Management
- Manage mechanical works from project commencement through to completion and handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, procurement schedules and commissioning plans.
- Coordinate site labour, engineering teams and subcontractors to achieve project milestones.
- Monitor progress, identify risks and implement recovery measures where required.
- Plan and coordinate site logistics, access requirements, lifting operations and shutdown activities.
Technical Coordination
- Ensure installations are completed in accordance with contract specifications and approved designs.
- Manage RFIs, design clarifications, BIM coordination and fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, electrical, cleanroom, controls and builder's works packages.
- Resolve technical issues and escalated project risks as necessary.
Procurement & Commercial Management
- Manage procurement activities, supplier approvals and delivery schedules.
- Monitor project costs and support cost forecasting and budget control.
- Identify and manage variations, change orders and commercial risks.
- Review subcontractor and supplier performance, progress claims and quotations.
- Support monthly reporting, valuations and project close-out activities.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements within a high-specification industrial environment.
- Oversee inspections, testing, documentation and commissioning activities.
- Drive system completion, snagging and pre-commissioning programmes.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with all stakeholders and compile handover documentation.
Health & Safety
- Maintain compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and project requirements.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks and site coordination activities.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor project engineers, supervisors and site teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project delivery matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Chair project progress and coordination meetings.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Project Management role within Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or MEP contracting.
- Third-level qualification (Level 7 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, stainless steel pipework, AHUs, pumps, valves and controls.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, contracts, variations and subcontractors.
- Excellent leadership, planning, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
