Job summary

Vertiv Ireland in Letterkenny is seeking a Thermal Engineer to design modular data center buildings and heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing systems for data centers and telecom projects. You will collaborate with multiple disciplines and prepare documentation for manufacturing and construction.

Responsibilities include factory integration supervision, project execution support, and coordination with operations teams to ensure successful deployment and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Modeling skills required; experience with Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
• English at least B2 level.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing modular buildings for customized solutions.
• Mechanical design of heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and fire suppression systems.
• Interface with architecture, structural and electrical disciplines; focus on concepts and calculations.
• Prepare CD sets and manufacturing documentation.
• Supervise engineering tasks during factory integration and support service teams.
• Contribute to project deployment strategies with operations and quality teams.
• Manage construction administration activities including As Built docs, installation manuals, FAT procedures, punch lists.

Job description

Our facility in Letterkenny, specialize in Vertiv™ PowerModule design, construction, and delivery of customized, pre-fabricated buildings. Our modular data center solutions are engineered to meet the evolving demands of modern infrastructure, offering flexibility, scalability, and rapid deployment and Vertiv™ Unify integrated platform software.

As a Thermal Engineer at Vertiv, you are responsible for customized solutions for two main business sectors: Data Centers, and Telecom.Plis the following:

• Designing and developing modular buildings for customized solutions in accordance with highest standards and demanding requests.
• Mechanical design on projects (building heating, cooling and ventilation, plumbing and fire suppression systems).
• Integration with other disciplines; architectural, structural, electrical. Focus on general design, concepts, calculation, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cooperation with the design team in the development of CD (construction documentation) sets
• Preparation of manufacturing documentation
• Engineering supervision and support when equipping modules in the factory (Letterkenny)
• Engineering support to service team and subcontractors
• Involvement during the design stage trough content and constructability review, responsible for providing feedback (comments) to the design team.
• Collaboration with the company operations team (project management, quality control, manufacturing, testing team and construction) in defining a project deployment strategy and executing the project
• Managing the Construction Administration activities that include:
  • As Built Documentation
  • Installation Manuals
  • FAT procedures (L3) including flushing, pressure testing
  • Assisting with Punch list items
  • Etc.
• Collaborate with local service to improve project implementation
• Specifying Bill of Material and services required for project execution
• Coordination with material and service suppliers during project execution
• Engineering supervision and support during site constructions and comissioning

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor or master’s in mechanical engineering (Process and energy engineering, thermotechnics, modeling and simulations)
• Required experience 1+ years on similar positions
• Active user of: Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), PowerPoint (A), AutoCAD
• Proficient modeling skills required, preferred: Revit, AutoDesk Autocad
• English language, independent user (B2)
• Technical/practical skills: analytical, organizational, meticulous
