Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical) for the Water division in Kilkenny. The role is part of the ECI team, coordinating multi-disciplinary activities from design through delivery and commissioning across Ireland.

You will work with the Project Manager on design development, documentation, and supplier coordination. The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree (NFQ Level 7), site experience, and strong communication, planning, and coordination skills.

Qualifications

  • NFQ Level 7 degree in Engineering is required.
  • Mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Practical site experience is desirable.
  • Experience in delivering water/wastewater projects is desirable.
  • IT skills with MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational, communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delegated projects and project issues.
  • Coordinate design activities and manage site activities.
  • Liaise with design teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure projects meet schedule and budget.
  • Oversee equipment sizing, procurement, testing and commissioning.

The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.The successful candidate will work alongside the Project Manager in coordinating a multi disciplined team to include process/mechanical/civil/structural/electrical work associated with various Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.The Project Engineer will have responsibility for assisting in the designdevelopment of the water and wastewater treatment contracts from early design /concept stage through to detailed design stage and onto delivery / construction stage. Collaborating with the Project Manager in the preparation of delivery documentation for client submissions including technical submissions, managing sub-consultant submissions (incl planning), preparing regulatory Health & Safety documentation, detailed design packages, tendering documentation and construction design packages.During delivery stage the Project Engineer will liaise with design teams andsuppliers, manage subcontractors, installation personnel and commissioning teams to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Ensure, all equipment is sized, procured, delivered, installed, tested and ultimately commissioned in accordance with contractual requirements.Day to Day of the Role:Take ownership of delegated projects and project issuesEnsure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projectsEvaluation of Client Specifications as well as liaising with Client and Client RepresentativesCommunicate with the Project Manager, Design Leads and Sub-Consultantsduring the execution of the projectInteract with our multi-disciplined engineering team, partaking in the final design, equipment selection and procurement activitiesOrganising, co-coordinating and managing design activitieswhile maintaining H&S in line with Veolia standardsManaging aspects of the project within defined budgets and agreed timelines through monitoring and tracking for adherence with the project brief and programmeApply procedures in place related to contract executionRequired Skills for the Role:Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in an Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferable) and/or Science DisciplinePractical site experience (Desired)Practical experience in being part of a project team from initial stages to delivery stageManaging design/site activities including team coordinationAbility to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate design /site activitiesExperience in the execution of water/wastewater engineering projects isdesirableIT skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power PointGood organisational and time management skillsSelf-motivatedStrong communication and writing skillsPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national , you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.
