Job summary

Nicholas O'Dwyer Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer with a focus on hydraulic modelling to support wastewater infrastructure projects in Ireland. You will join the Wastewater team and contribute to modelling, analysis and reporting to meet client standards.

The role requires a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree and 5+ years of experience with InfoWorks ICM, MicroDrainage and GIS, plus strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in hydraulic modelling for wastewater and surface water systems.
• Strong technical skills in hydraulic modelling software ideally using InfoWorks ICM with experience with MicroDrainage and Bentley software.
• Experienced in the use of InfoAsset.
• Strong Geographic Information Systems (GIS) knowledge with experience in QGIS, MapInfo and ArcGIS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Strong technical writing skills; and
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide hydraulic modelling and network analysis inputs to projects under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
• Develop, calibrate and verify hydraulic models using the latest InfoWorks ICM software, in accordance with relevant Client standards, including Uisce Éireann DAP standards.
• Undertake hydraulic model assessments and contribute to the optioneering and development of solutions to address SWO and flooding non-compliance.
• Assist with the scoping, coordination and management of surveys and data collection activities required to inform model development.
• Prepare technical reports, modelling documentation, calculations and supporting deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver project requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to graduate and junior engineers, where appropriate.
• Participate in client and project team meetings and support day-to-day client liaison.
• Maintain and develop technical knowledge of hydraulic modelling software, industry standards and best practice.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as required, in line with the evolving needs of the role and the business.
