Due to continued growth and expansion, the company is now seeking to recruit a lead Project Engineer.
Position Overview
Position Title: Project Engineer (full‑time hybrid role) Location: Hybrid – work from Astatine’s offices at Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8 four days a week, otherwise remotely. Contract Type: Full Time Contract. Working Hours: Mon to Fri full time. Start Date: ASAP. Salary: Negotiable based on relevant experience; includes work phone and laptop.
Responsibilities
- Foundation design for modular structures.
- Geotechnical evaluation of sites and ground conditions.
- Trenching and ducting detailed design.
- Designing structural support structures and foundations.
- Construction road, mobile crane platform and access track design.
- Create design specification documents for external designers.
- Review external civil and structural design.
- Oversee the setting‑out for solar farms and other structures.
- Manage civil contractors and occasional site attendance.
- Structural evaluation of existing buildings to determine capacity for small additional loads.
- Utilise experience to propose added value solutions for clients.
- Attend customer meetings and project construction/design meetings, taking an active role.
- Oversee detailed design by less experienced engineers and external consultants.
- Supervise and lead the selection of key equipment and validate supplier selections.
- Develop novel, effective engineering solutions for our customers.
- Produce detailed plans, drawings and specifications, adhering to local building codes and industry standards.
- Assist in project management by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines and ensuring designs meet client expectations.
- Review and approve civil and structural designs to ensure performance, accuracy, functionality and safety.
Qualifications
- Strong civil and structural engineering skills with about 8 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s (Level 8) degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferable, but not mandatory.
- Superb quantitative analysis and problem‑solving skills, incorporating strong analytical skills.
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and AutoCAD/BIM.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Proven self‑starter and self‑motivated.
- Ability to work as part of a team, manage workload and prioritise effectively.
- Valid full driving license (preferable, not mandatory).
- A keen desire to help deliver decarbonisation and the renewable energy transition.
