Job summary

Nicholas O’Dwyer Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Assistant Project Engineer to support a major asbestos surveying programme across a water and wastewater portfolio. Reporting to the Asbestos Programme Manager, you will assist with planning, procurement, contractor coordination and stakeholder engagement.

The role focuses on programme support, procurement coordination and delivery facilitation rather than technical asbestos expertise, with exposure to operations teams and survey

Qualifications

• Qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• Experience supporting infrastructure, utilities, construction, or similar projects.
• Experience assisting with procurement, tender prep, and contract administration.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills for multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing project documentation and reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to coordinate inputs from subject matter experts.
• Full driving licence and willingness to attend sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver a large-scale asbestos surveying programme.
• Assist with tender documentation, procurement packages, and contracts.
• Liaise with internal technical specialists to incorporate requirements.
• Coordinate survey activities across operational sites and plan delivery.
• Facilitate contractor access and ensure surveys are completed efficiently.
• Mobilise and manage survey contractors and service providers.
• Monitor progress and assist with reporting, tracking and performance.
• Assist with budgets, schedules, risks and deliverables.
• Maintain programme records and survey information.
• Coordinate communications between contractors, consultants and operations.
• Assist with contract administration and deliverables.
• Support stakeholder updates and continuous improvement.
• Undertake site visits as required.
