Job summary

Flex, based in Dundalk, seeks a Production Support Engineer to bridge Design Engineering and Manufacturing. You will resolve production issues, support improvements, and ensure robust documentation through the project and product lifecycle.

The role requires a third-level engineering degree, 3+ years in electrical manufacturing (LV/MV switchgear, busduct, UPS), and strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills. On-site with potential travel and hybrid options.

Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or related technical background.
• Experience supporting production builds and resolving manufacturing issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering design support to production teams.
• Liaise between Design Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve assembly, wiring, busbar and testing issues.
• Review manufacturing drawings, schematics, and BOMs for completeness and manufacturability.
• Revise design drawings and BOMs where necessary.
• Support production personnel with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Participate in daily production meetings and manufacturing reviews.
• Review new designs prior to release to identify manufacturing risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support quality investigations and IEC 61439 compliance.
• Liaise with Test Teams for FAT activities and troubleshooting.
• Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
• Review work instructions, SOPs and process documentation.
• Ensure engineering changes are effectively communicated on the shop floor.
• Assist in non-conformance investigations and customer complaint resolution.
• Drive the "As-Built" documentation process.
• Manage the Site Material Request (SMR) process.
• Support internal and external audits.
