Job summary

Flex is seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to act as the primary interface between Design Engineering and Manufacturing. Based in Dundalk, you will provide technical support to manufacturing operations for LV Switchgear and related assemblies, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production.

You will resolve production issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure robust manufacturing documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Third level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or related technical background.
• 3+ years in electrical manufacturing (LV/MV Switchgear, Busduct, UPS, etc.).
• Experience supporting production builds and resolving manufacturing issues.
• Knowledge of IEC 61439 requirements and practical application in LV Switchboard manufacturing.
• Energy Management, PLC and Automation experience beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret product standards, customer specifications, electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar software.
• Experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Methodical approach to technical problem solving.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering design support to production teams.
• Act as interface between Design Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve issues.
• Review drawings, schematics, and BOMs for completeness and manufacturability.
• Revise design drawings and BOMs where necessary.
• Support production personnel with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Participate in daily production meetings and manufacturing reviews.
• Assess new designs for manufacturing risks and improvement opportunities.
• Support quality investigations and IEC 61439 compliance.
• Coordinate with Test Teams for FAT activities and troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives on the shop floor.
