Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a manufacturing team in Galway. You will drive production targets while upholding safety, quality, and cost efficiency, and collaborate on continuous improvement and HR-related workforce planning.

You'll manage resources, monitor performance, and foster a culture of engagement and accountability, delivering standard work and effective problem-solving within a global manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar leadership role within manufacturing.
• 3rd level qualification in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficient in using manufacturing machinery, tools, and MS Office applications.
• Experience working with unions is a distinct advantage.
• Strong organizational and leadership capabilities, with a driven, results-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to drive problem-solving and continuous improvement within a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a manufacturing team, ensuring production targets are met while upholding top quality, safety, and cost efficiency standards.
• Drive continuous improvement, foster team development, and maintain operational excellence by establishing standard work practices and streamlining processes.
• Take ownership of resource management, manpower planning, and performance measurement, collaborating with HR on recruitment, training, and development plans.
• Achieve and exceed production, safety, and quality targets by implementing and improving standard work.
• Lead cost reduction and efficiency initiatives, optimize manpower, and introduce productivity solutions.
• Oversee delivery, layout, and supply of materials to the production line with clear systems and targets.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, including 5S program management.
• Monitor, report, and improve on key performance metrics; resolve issues quickly with structured problem-solving.
• Drive continuous improvement, encourage idea generation, and facilitate problem-solving within the team.
• Manage recruitment and orientation, oversee training needs analysis, and support ongoing learning and development.
• Administer resource allocation, absence/vacation management, and system updates relevant to workforce management.
• Ensure area work instructions and procedures are accurate and regularly updated.
• Foster a positive, engaged, and communicative team culture through regular feedback and open communication.
• Handle employee relations, including performance reviews, developmental conversations, grievances, and disciplinary processes with HR.
