Job summary

Boston Scientific in Clonmel seeks a Process Technician II on a permanent basis to maintain and improve manufacturing equipment, performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to support production continuity.

The role requires troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, adherence to GMP, and collaboration with cross-functional teams; SMT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• NFQ level 6 STEM higher certificate or trade qualification in a related discipline.
• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• SMT experience is required.
• Experience using a CMMS.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
• Understanding GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with RCA, Lean and Continuous Improvement.
• Strong documentation discipline and safety awareness.

We are seeking a Process Technician S2 on a Permanent basis to join our team in our Clonmel site.

The shift for this position is rotation Days/Evenings shift changing to rotation Night/Days shift come Jan 2027 .

Job Purpose

The Process Technician II is responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment performance through the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The role requires independent troubleshooting of equipment issues, adherence to safety and quality standards, accurate maintenance documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment reliability and production continuity. Technicians are expected to work with minimal supervision, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and support the development of less experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to support safe and reliable production operations
• Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system faults.
• Complete maintenance activities and documentation in accordance with site procedures, GMP requirements, and engineering standards.
• Accurately maintain maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS to support regulatory and audit requirements.
• Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of equipment failures.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all safety procedures, identify hazards, and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and support business objectives.
• Share technical knowledge, assist with onboarding and training activities, and support team capability development.

Education & Experience:

• NFQ level 6 STEM higher certificate/Trade Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• 2 to 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• SMT experience is a requirement
• Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
• Understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Experience within either Medical Device, trade related fields, Pharmaceutical, Electronics, or other regulated manufacturing industries is preferred but not essential.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Understanding of equipment reliability and preventive maintenance principles.
• Technical troubleshooting and maintenance expertise.
• Structured problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong compliance and documentation discipline.
• Safety awareness and risk management.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
