Job summary

WSP in Ireland is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to lead a range of transport planning projects, acting as Technical Lead and/or Project Manager. The role blends leadership, client liaison and bid management across Ireland and the UK, with a focus on active travel and public transport schemes.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, drive commercial performance, mentor juniors and help grow the Ireland Transport Planning Team while engaging key clients to win more work.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and managing active travel schemes.
• Experience developing transport strategies, plans, and ABTA process knowledge.
• Experience in business case development, transport assessments, and feasibility.
• Ability to engage with public and private sector clients.
• Strong bid writing, client engagement and conference presentation skills.
• Experience with bid management and multi-disciplinary delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder liaison skills.
• Commercial awareness with project management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Technical Lead and/or Project Manager on transport planning projects, leading technical and commercial aspects.
• Manage financial performance of projects and contribute to team performance.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with other WSP service lines.
• Grow Irish Transport Planning Team and engage with key clients.
• Lead on transport planning bids including Bid Manager responsibilities.
• Collaborate with UK colleagues to deliver projects cross-border.
• Mentor junior team members and support their development.
• Contribute to WSP pillars: People, Clients & Growth, Operations, Expertise.
