Principal Solution Architect provides end-to-end solution architecture, customer advisory, and delivery leadership for complex, highly visible, or business‑critical Tridion Docs / Tridion One engagements. The Principal Solution Architect acts as the primary customer‑facing lead, responsible for understanding customer problems, shaping requirements, and translating them into scalable, pragmatic solutions. Responsibilities include assisting pre‑sale, leading discovery, defining solution architecture, and guiding delivery teams. The architect’s goal is to drive adoption, enabling customer change and simplifying the complexities of the solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the solution architecture lead for complex, highly visible, or business critical Tridion Docs implementations, and other sizeable engagements.
- Assist with pre‑sale activity to shape proposals and build credibility
- Lead customer discovery to understand business problems, goals, and constraints before proposing solutions.
- Shape and define business and functional requirements with stakeholders.
- Design the end‑to‑end solution architecture and document it clearly.
- Provide architectural oversight across delivery teams and ensure delivery aligns with agreed solution design and business outcomes.
- Creation and delivery of training.
- Support the Project Management and Leadership teams in any escalations.
- Act as the “voice of the customer,” ensuring user needs are clear but where appropriate also challenged.
- Develop a trusted relationship with key stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical concepts into simple, accessible explanations for customers.
- Ensure solutions are pragmatic, scalable, and avoid unnecessary complexity.
- Support the customers through change and adoption, helping them understand how to operate post implementation.
Skills & Experience
- Sound understanding of DITA and structured content concepts, sufficient to confidently make informed architectural and design decisions – mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of structured content management with extensive experience and a passion for this space.
- Experience defining and owning end‑to‑end solution architecture for enterprise platforms, including system boundaries, workflows, and integration patterns.
- Proven experience leading customer discovery and shaping requirements in complex, under‑defined environments.
- Experience designing or governing information architectures for DITA / XML‑based content platforms, including metadata, reuse, taxonomy, profiling and publication structures.
- Experience enabling change within large complex organizations.
- Understanding of XML and other structured content standards.
- Problem led, translating them into business requirements and designing a pragmatic solution.
- Strong negotiator.
- Strong technical understanding of API‑based extensions and their applications for large‑scale solutions.
- Highly articulate communicator with the ability to discuss complex and technical topics effectively with non‑technical stakeholders.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions.
- Team player, willing to go the extra mile to make the team and our clients successful; adaptable and flexible.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Experience of using AI to enable efficiency and deliver a richer customer experience.
- Allowed to work and free to travel around the EMEA region.
