Job summary

Personio is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the People Intelligence capability, shaping analytics for workforce decisions and business strategy. You will design models, metrics, and signal feeds across a multi-agent framework, partnering with People Partners, Reward, Talent Acquisition and executives.

This role emphasizes research, experimentation, and governance, with productionalisation of models and collaboration with engineering to scale insights across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data science, applied ML, or quantitative research with at least 3 years focused on people, workforce, or behavioural data.
• Deep expertise in causal inference, survival analysis, and predictive modelling.
• Strong command of Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and SQL; comfortable with dbt and modern data stack tooling.
• Track record of translating model outputs into business decisions, you know how to get findings acted on, not just published.
• Experience designing data models and semantic layers, not just consuming them.
• Excellent communication skills: you can explain a Kaplan-Meier curve to a CFO without losing the rigour.

Responsibilities

• Build and shape the People Intelligence foundation, defining metrics and data relationships.
• Deliver predictive and explanatory models across core people domains and workforce planning scenarios.
• Architect the Multi-Agent Intelligence Layer and productionise models with engineering partners.
• Partner with Execs and senior leaders to translate insights into decisions.
• Set analytical standards for reproducibility, governance, and documentation.
• Mentor analysts and promote responsible privacy-preserving analytics.
