Principal Mechanical Engineer Dublin | Hybrid Working | €80,000+ DOE
Our client is a well-established and growing Irish mechanical services contractor delivering complex projects across the residential, commercial and Industrial sectors. With a strong pipeline of work and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Dublin-based engineering team.
The Opportunity
This is a key technical leadership position offering the opportunity to influence engineering delivery across a broad portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, support project teams, and lead a small engineering function while contributing to the successful delivery of multiple concurrent projects. This role is primarily office-based (approximately 80%) with flexibility for a mix of office, home and site-based working.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multiple residential and commercial projects.
- Lead, mentor and support a small team of engineers.
- Review and advise on mechanical services designs, specifications and technical submissions.
- Act as a technical resource for Contracts Managers, Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of approximately 14-15 concurrent projects.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with relevant regulations, standards and client requirements.
- Assist in resolving complex technical and operational challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practice.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years' experience within the Irish mechanical services, building services or MEP sector.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building systems.
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial construction projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong technical problem-solving ability.
- Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
