Job summary

ALONE in Dublin 8 is recruiting a Policy Manager to join our Research, Evaluation and Policy team. This role will translate evidence, insight and analysis into high-quality policy positions that influence national policy development and improve outcomes for older people.

The postholder will manage the policy function and work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Research and Evaluation, Public Affairs and Communications, delivering against ALONE’s priorities.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Public Policy
• Minimum of three years' experience in a senior policy role
• Experience developing and disseminating evidence-based policy positions
• Ability to translate policy into influencing strategies
• Strong understanding of how research informs policy development
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex environment
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• Ability to actively listen, seek information objectively, and respond to challenging situations with reason
• Strong understanding of older people's policies and services
• Experience managing small teams

Responsibilities

• Manage the policy function and deliver ALONE’s policy priorities and annual work programme.
• Monitor political, legislative and policy developments affecting older people and identify relevant opportunities.
• Develop clear, evidence-based policy positions, briefings and recommendations aligned with ALONE’s priorities.
• Translate research, evaluation and external evidence into policy recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for policy development including consultations and government strategies.
• Collaborate with Public Affairs to inform political engagement and advocacy.
• Collaborate with Communications to communicate policy positions and evidence.
• Develop and implement ALONE’s policy development model with an evidence-based approach.
• Work with partners to scope, commission and use research to strengthen policy positions.
• Lead and develop the policy team to achieve priorities.
