Job summary

ALONE in Ireland seeks a senior policy lead to drive policy priorities and a robust annual work programme. You will shape evidence-based policy positions and briefings, translating research into actionable recommendations for national age-related policies.

You will monitor regulatory developments, manage a small policy team, and collaborate with Public Affairs and Communications to influence and communicate policy priorities effectively.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Public Policy.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a senior policy role.
• Experience developing and disseminating evidence-based policy positions.
• Understanding translating policy into influencing strategies.
• Strong understanding of how research informs policy development.

Responsibilities

• Manage the policy function and deliver ALONE’s policy priorities and annual work programme.
• Monitor political, legislative and policy developments affecting older people.
• Identify emerging issues and opportunities relevant to ALONE’s work.
• Develop evidence-based policy positions, briefings, submissions and recommendations.
• Translate research, evaluation, service insight and external evidence into policy recommendations and priorities.
• Identify opportunities for policy development and influence, including consultations, government strategies, legislation and policy issues.
• Work with Public Affairs to inform political engagement and advocacy.
• Work with Communications to communicate ALONE’s policy positions, evidence and expertise.
• Manage and implement ALONE’s policy development model.
• Scope, commission and use research with colleagues and external partners.
• Manage and develop the policy team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned
