Job summary

Wallace Myers International is seeking a Plant Manager to take full ownership of a core timber processing site in Co. Cork. This hands-on leadership role covers the full production cycle from log intake through primary and secondary processing.

You will shape production planning with Forestry and Sales, drive safety, quality and continuous improvement, and report against KPIs to senior leadership. Senior site management experience in asset-intensive manufacturing is essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing or related field.
  • 5 years in a senior Plant, Site or Operations Management role in manufacturing.
  • Experience in high-capital, asset-intensive environments.
  • Experience running large-scale production, timber/sawmilling or similar.
  • Strong SHEQ/regulatory compliance background.
  • Lean and continuous improvement with budget & KPI management.
  • Proven leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Support recruitment, development and engagement of the site team alongside HR.
  • Chair regular production review meetings to maintain strong operational governance.
  • Build close working relationships with supervisors to share knowledge and drive best practice.
  • Input into capital investment planning and support delivery of approved projects.

Job description

Our client is a long-established, large-scale multi-site timber processing. They are now seeking to recruit a Plant Manager to take full ownership of one of its core production sites in Co. Cork.


This is a hands-on leadership role covering the full production cycle, from log intake through to primary and secondary processing. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across to shape production planning, while also driving safety, quality and continuous improvement standards across the site.

Criteria
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years in a senior Plant, Site or Operations Management role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Background in a high-capital, asset-intensive environment.
  • Experience running large-scale production operations, ideally in timber, sawmilling or a similar continuous-process industry.
  • Solid grounding in SHEQ systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Track record applying lean and continuous improvement methods.Strong background managing budgets, KPIs and production planning.
  • Proven people leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.
