Job summary

HRconsultants.ie is recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to lead the availability, reliability and safe condition of the site’s production equipment in Waterford. This senior, hands-on role collaborates with Operations and Production to maximise plant uptime while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a maintenance-management role in manufacturing.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Practical mechanical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis capability.
  • Experience maintaining production equipment, utilities and other assets.
  • Experience managing shutdowns, contractors and service providers.
  • Knowledge of LOTOTO, permit-to-work and safe systems of work.
  • Experience using CMMS or work-order systems.
  • Ability to monitor equipment performance and use KPIs to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Plan weekly, monthly and annual maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate plant shutdowns, major repairs and maintenance projects.
  • Lead the response to equipment breakdowns and support technical fault diagnosis.
  • Prioritise maintenance requirements in conjunction with Operations and Production.
  • Establish and improve CMMS and work-order management processes.
  • Maintain equipment history, inspection records and technical documentation.
  • Monitor downtime and complete root-cause analysis on recurring failures.
  • Introduce and report maintenance KPIs, including MTBF, MTTR and planned-maintenance completion.
  • Manage maintenance contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Coordinate contractor access, inductions, permits and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain LOTOTO, confined-space, hot-work and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Coordinate statutory equipment inspections and certifications.
  • Manage critical spare parts, consumables, inventory levels and reorder points.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding technical support, spare parts and lead times.
  • Support maintenance-budget control and capital-improvement projects.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all maintenance activities.
  • Communicate maintenance priorities, performance and actions to operational teams.

Maintenance Manager – Manufacturing

Location: Waterford

Salary: €80,000–€90,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Our client is an ambitious Irish-owned building-materials manufacturer developing a modern production facility at Waterford.

They are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to take responsibility for the availability, reliability and safe condition of the site’s production equipment, utilities and wider infrastructure.

This is a senior, hands-on opportunity to establish and develop the site’s maintenance systems, preventive-maintenance programme, contractor arrangements, spare-parts controls and reliability reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations and Production to maximise plant availability while ensuring that all maintenance activities are completed safely and with minimal disruption to production.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a maintenance manager, engineering manager, maintenance supervisor, planner or senior maintenance-engineering position.
  • Experience gained within an industrial manufacturing, quarrying, building-products or continuous-process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Practical mechanical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis capability.
  • Experience maintaining production equipment, utilities, compressors, conveyors or comparable industrial assets.
  • Experience managing shutdowns, contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance-related Health and Safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of LOTOTO, permit-to-work and safe systems of work.
  • Experience using a CMMS or structured work-order management system.
  • Ability to monitor equipment performance and use maintenance KPIs to drive improvements.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Relevant mechanical, electrical or engineering qualification.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience within plasterboard, cement, concrete, quarrying, mining or building-products manufacturing.
  • Previous involvement in the commissioning, start-up or ramp-up of a new production facility.
  • Experience with SCADA or HMI systems.
  • Health and Safety qualification.
  • Machinery-safety training, such as PILZ or equivalent.
  • Experience managing spare-parts inventory and maintenance budgets.
