ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Philanthropy Ireland is a dynamic membership organisation dedicated to advancing philanthropy in Ireland. Our aim is to cultivate a thriving community of philanthropic entities, fostering collaboration and innovation to address the most pressing societal challenges. Established in 1998, the organisation currently has over 55 members and collaborates with over 40 different partners and stakeholder groups.

Philanthropy Ireland champions the power of strategic giving to effect real and lasting change. Representing and empowering a diverse and engaged membership, supporting all types of philanthropy to promote best practice, inform public policy, and raise awareness of philanthropic giving as an effective driver of social change.

THE ROLE

The Department of Rural, Community and Development, and the Gaeltacht, (DRCDG), launched the National Philanthropy Policy for Ireland 2024-2028 on 13 December 2023. The purpose of this Policy is to deepen understanding and knowledge, create an enabling environment and accelerate engagement with philanthropy in Ireland for social good.

Following publication, DRCDG commissioned research for the development of a Philanthropy Communications and Awareness Raising Strategy, and a key recommendation from this is for the appointment of a project lead to oversee the implementation of the actions as outlined in the communications strategy. DRCDG are funding activation of this role.

This is a vital role to support the delivery of the Philanthropy Communications and Awareness Raising Strategy and thereby the overall National Philanthropy Policy. The role will also support the enabling of strategic engagement between government, philanthropy and civil society. It presents a unique opportunity to positively contribute to the communication of the value and impact of philanthropy to key audiences and stakeholders, and will support relationship building, knowledge exchange and early-stage partnership development.
