Job summary

Focus Ireland is seeking a National Community Fundraising Officer to drive the Leinster region fundraising plan from Dublin. You will engage communities, build relationships with volunteers and supporters, and raise awareness of Focus Ireland's work.

You will collaborate with campaigns, manage events such as Shine a Light and other national fundraisers, work with communications on local media, and ensure compliance with charity standards while growing regional income.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Community Engagement: Increase income from third-party events, individual fundraisers, and community groups by building strong relationships, supporting volunteer fundraisers, and encouraging long-term engagement with Focus Ireland.
  • Campaign Development: Collaborate with the Campaigns Team to deliver regional fundraising campaigns and recruit participants for key national events such as Shine a Light, The Big Busk, and On the Move.
  • Promotion Engagement: Promote Focus Ireland’s work through national fundraising initiatives, locally organised events, and other community-based fundraising activities.
  • Media Communications: Work closely with the Communications Team to maximise local media coverage and raise awareness of Focus Ireland’s campaigns and services.
  • Creative Materials: Develop and deliver fundraising materials in line with brand guidelines, while coordinating effectively with external suppliers.
  • Community Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with community groups, associations, festivals, local chambers, and businesses to support fundraising targets and increase awareness.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteer committees to deliver local fundraising activities and strengthen community engagement throughout the year.

What You Will Do
Fundraising Community Engagement
  • Income Generation: Increase income from third-party events, individual fundraisers, and community groups by building strong relationships, supporting volunteer fundraisers, and encouraging long-term engagement with Focus Ireland.

Finance, Budgets Reporting
  • Financial Management :Manage cash handling, receipts, banking, and income acknowledgements in accordance with Focus Ireland policies and procedures.
  • Fund Allocation: Ensure accurate recording and allocation of donations within the CRM system and to the appropriate fundraising campaigns.
  • Reporting: Produce monthly reports on participant engagement, fundraising income, projections, and recommended actions to achieve targets.
General
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Fundraising Team to maximise income growth and build sustainable supporter relationships in line with the Community Fundraising Strategy.
  • Content Collection :Partner with operational services and communications teams to gather regional case studies, images, and stories for fundraising and promotional purposes.
  • Compliance Additional Duties: Ensure all fundraising activity complies with the Charities Act, data protection legislation, and best practice standards, while undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Head of National Community Fundraising.
What You Will Need
  • Third-level qualification in fundraising, marketing, communications, multimedia, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in fundraising, marketing, or a relevant field.
  • Event management experience is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain community relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting income generation targets.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of business acumen and ability to develop professional proposals.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally unsociable hours.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Full clean driver’s licence and access to a car.
