Job summary

HERO Recruitment Ltd. in Co Sligo seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the API Engineering team within a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. You will establish goals, supervise operations, and ensure equipment meets safety, quality and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes CAPA planning, continuous improvement, budgeting, audits and collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimise plant performance and yield.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering or related scientific/engineering discipline.
• 7–10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least two years in an engineering supervisory or management role.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop people.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech API manufacturing is preferred; not essential.
• Experience in manufacturing operations, equipment reliability, maintenance, projects or CI.

Responsibilities

• Establish departmental goals, schedules and activity plans with Operations Engineering Manager.
• Lead and develop the API Engineering team; foster an inclusive environment.
• Support development, maintenance and improvement of manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure equipment meets legal, divisional, quality and safety standards.
• Develop and implement CAPA plans with clear actions, owners and timelines.
• Lead investigations and equipment-monitoring to improve performance, reduce downtime and maximise yield.
• Drive equipment and process upgrades within CI.
• Develop monthly engineering metrics and provide management reports.
• Manage engineering budgets and capital expenditure requests.
• Support internal, external and corporate audits.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure safety standards are met.
• Manage internal and external engineering and plant projects.
