Teamworx Ltd is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to own the Irish payroll function across multiple sites in a hybrid, South Dublin area setting. The role requires strong technical knowledge of Irish payroll legislation, Revenue compliance, and experience in large-scale payroll operations.

You will lead end-to-end payroll processing, collaborate with HR and Finance, and drive process improvements while ensuring accurate and timely payments for a 1,500+ employee population.

About the Role

Teamworx is recruiting on behalf of a well-established international Group with a significant presence in Ireland for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to take ownership of the Irish payroll function.

This is a highly hands-on role and will suit an experienced Irish payroll expert who is confident managing a complex, high-volume payroll environment and can operate independently.

You will have responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of payroll across the Group's Irish operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining full compliance with Irish payroll legislation and Revenue requirements.

Working as part of the wider Group Payroll function, you will collaborate closely with HR, Finance and Operations, while acting as a key payroll subject-matter expert for the Irish business.

This is an opportunity for a strong technical payroll professional who enjoys being close to the detail, solving problems, improving processes and acting as the go-to person for payroll in Ireland.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a large, multi-site environment and will bring strong technical Irish payroll knowledge, commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders when required.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Delivery & Compliance
  • Own the end-to-end processing of a high-volume Irish payroll across multiple business units/sites
  • Process and validate weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage payroll inputs including new starters, leavers, salary changes, benefits, allowances, deductions and statutory payments
  • Ensure accurate PAYE, PRSI and USC calculations and Revenue submissions
  • Manage pension deductions and other statutory payroll requirements
  • Complete payroll reconciliations and detailed checks prior to sign-off
  • Maintain strong payroll governance, controls and data integrity
  • Manage year-end payroll processes and reporting
Payroll Expertise & Problem Solving
  • Act as the key point of contact and subject-matter expert for Irish payroll
  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries and discrepancies
  • Provide accurate payroll advice to HR, Finance, managers and employees
  • Identify payroll risks and proactively address issues
  • Stay up to date with changes to Irish payroll legislation and ensure these are implemented correctly
Process Improvement & Controls
  • Review existing payroll processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and controls
  • Challenge existing ways of working where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures and documentation
  • Support payroll system improvements, automation and implementation projects
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and strengthen payroll governance
Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong working relationships with HR, Finance and Operations
  • Work confidently with senior stakeholders across the Irish business
  • Communicate payroll issues clearly and professionally
  • Be comfortable challenging, influencing and advising stakeholders where required
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Group Payroll team
Candidate Profile
  • Significant experience working in a high-volume Irish payroll environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and Revenue requirements
  • Experience managing payroll for a large employee population, ideally 1,500+ employees
  • Strong experience across weekly and/or monthly payroll
  • Excellent knowledge of PAYE, PRSI, USC, pensions and statutory payments
  • Strong payroll reconciliation and audit experience
  • Experience working across multiple sites, business units or entities
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the payroll function
  • Confident communicator with the personality and presence to build relationships across HR, Finance and Operations
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and controls
  • Strong experience using payroll and HR systems
  • IPASS qualification or equivalent payroll qualification
  • Experience within a large-scale, multi-site environment
  • Retail, FMCG, hospitality or another complex workforce environment
  • Experience with payroll system implementation, automation or process improvement
