Job summary

Eirkoo in Ireland is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead the payroll function across Ireland and Northern Ireland. You will own end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring high-quality, accurate and fully compliant service while guiding a payroll team.

The role reports to the HR Director and involves system enhancements, controls, reporting, and close collaboration with HR, Finance and external providers to optimise processes and outputs.

Qualifications

  • Extensive end-to-end payroll management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish payroll requirements and UK/Northern Ireland payroll.
  • Experience leading and developing a payroll team.
  • Solid experience with payroll controls, reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems and external providers.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the full payroll cycle across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Ensuring compliance with Irish and UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Leading, coaching and developing the payroll team.
  • Reviewing and validating payroll inputs (starters, leavers, changes, overtime, absence, benefits, deductions).
  • Working with HR and Operations to ensure accurate payroll data.
  • Partnering with Finance on reconciliations, reporting, cost allocation and month‑end activities.
  • Managing complex payroll queries and escalations.
  • Maintaining robust payroll controls, approvals, audit trails and segregation of duties.
  • Managing relationships with payroll, pension, benefits and providers.
  • Supporting payroll system enhancements and digitalisation projects.
  • Producing accurate payroll reporting and analysis for senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting internal and external audits.
  • Driving continuous improvement across payroll processes, systems and reporting.

Job description

We are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in the appointment of an experienced Payroll Manager to lead its payroll function across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

This is a senior payroll position with responsibility for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, accurate and fully compliant payroll service, while leading a payroll team and driving improvements across systems, controls and processes.

Location: South Dublin

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Reporting to: HR Director

The Role

The successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll operation and act as a key partner to HR, Finance, Operations, IT and external providers.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the full payroll cycle across Ireland and Northern Ireland
  • Ensuring compliance with Irish and UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Leading, coaching and developing the payroll team
  • Reviewing and validating payroll inputs, including starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, absence, benefits and deductions
  • Working closely with HR and Operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll data
  • Partnering with Finance on reconciliations, reporting, cost allocation and month-end activities
  • Managing complex payroll queries and escalations through to resolution
  • Maintaining robust payroll controls, approvals, audit trails and segregation of duties
  • Managing relationships with payroll, pension, benefits and technology providers
  • Supporting payroll system enhancements, upgrades and digitalisation projects
  • Producing accurate payroll reporting and analysis for senior stakeholders
  • Supporting internal and external audits
  • Driving continuous improvement across payroll processes, systems and reporting
About You
  • Strong end-to-end payroll management experience, ideally within a multi-site or complex organisation
  • Excellent knowledge of Irish payroll requirements, with working knowledge of UK/Northern Ireland payroll
  • Proven experience leading and developing a payroll team
  • Strong technical understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations and audit requirements
  • Experience working with payroll systems and external payroll providers
  • Strong Excel, analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage demanding deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement

A recognised payroll qualification or relevant professional certification would be advantageous.
