Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll for 3,000+ employees across Ireland. You will act as the subject matter expert on Irish payroll legislation and Revenue requirements, overseeing all payroll components and ensuring compliance.

You will lead a team of payroll specialists, drive process improvements and system enhancements (including Sage Payroll), and partner with HR, Finance and business leaders. Flexible hybrid work with 1–2 days in office across Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years payroll experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and Revenue compliance.
  • Proven track record managing payroll for 3,000+ employees in Ireland; Sage Payroll expertise.
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management and people leadership skills.
  • Experience auditing payrolls and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience in multinational/matrix organisations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of end-to-end payroll operations for 3,000+ employees across Ireland, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across multiple groups and entities.
  • Act as SME for Irish payroll legislation, Revenue requirements, and complex scenarios.
  • Oversee all payroll facets: salary, overtime, bonuses, shift allowances, benefit-in-kind, pension, and statutory deductions.
  • Ensure PAYE Modernisation, tax, social insurance, and local statutory compliance.
  • Develop and mentor payroll specialists, set performance standards and deliver excellent stakeholder service.
  • Lead payroll process improvements, system enhancements (including Sage Payroll), and automation initiatives.
