Woodie’s, Ireland’s leading DIY, Home & Garden retailer, is seeking an ambitious Deputy Manager to develop and succeed within the estate. This role provides a clear accelerated path to Store Manager and involves leading store operations, driving commercial performance, and developing high-performing teams.

You will learn every aspect of store management while supporting recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training of store colleagues, with emphasis on customer service and engagement in a dynamic

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced retail environment; Assistant/Deputy Manager or equivalent experience is essential.
• Proven track record of delivering sales growth, managing budgets, and driving profitability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams, with a passion for coaching and talent development.
• Strong commitment to delivering world-class customer service and creating a welcoming store environment.
• Experience in stock control, merchandising, cash management, and compliance.
• Ability to lead change, embrace new ways of working, and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
• Positive, solutions-focused attitude, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Proficient in retail systems and MS Office; data analysis skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and compliance with company standards.
• Drive sales, profitability, and KPIs through merchandising, stock management, and commercial decisions.
• Lead, coach and develop a diverse team; support recruitment, onboarding and training of store colleagues.
• Identify and nurture future leaders; support career progression and succession planning.
• Champion a customer-first culture, resolving escalated queries and complaints.
• Ensure full compliance with health & safety, security, cash handling, and statutory requirements.
• Lead and implement new initiatives, process improvements and change projects to enhance performance.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, senior management and external partners.
