Job summary

Kerry Parents and Friends Association is seeking a Cook for Tearmann Lodge, Rathmore, on a 14-hour-per-week specified purpose contract. The role emphasizes preparing high-quality, home-cooked meals with strict hygiene and budget controls in a residential setting.

As an integral part of the on-duty team, you will ensure meals are served on time, ingredients are ordered economically, and the kitchen operates under Health and Safety and HACCP guidelines. Previous HACCP certification is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have HACCP certification.
• Experience in kitchen/hospitality settings valued.
• Ability to work as part of a team and meet dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the provision of good quality, home cooked food at all times.
• Ensure that meals are prepared at the agreed times and at correct temperatures.
• Responsible for the ordering of all ingredients in quantities, which are economically sound.
• Ensure that food is stored appropriately at all times.
• Maintain a high level of service and hygiene within the kitchen
• Observe good health and safety practices at all times, thus ensuring the safety of residents, staff and members of the public.
• Understand and follow the regulations required by the Environmental Health Department when preparing food.
• Responsible for the daily management and supervision of the kitchen.
• Be able to carry out the duties of the post satisfactorily.
• Have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and HACCP.
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing a high quality service.
• Have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
