Job summary

The successful candidate will hold an An Bord Altranais RN licence with 5+ years OR experience and 2+ years in management, plus strong teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• An Bord Altranais Registered General Nurse licence in good standing.
• Minimum five years OR experience with two years of progressive management experience.
• Strong teaching, leadership, and problem-solving abilities; ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and direction for the Post-Anaesthetic Care unit staff and aligns with departmental goals.
• Ensures competent, compassionate, and efficient care in the PACU with patient advocacy.
• Recruits and retains staff, monitors performance, and promotes fair labour practices.
• Oversees safe equipment, supplies, and a safe physical setting for patients and staff.
• Monitors budgets and staffing patterns to optimise unit productivity and cost control.
• Collaborates with anaesthetists, surgeons, registrars and other healthcare professionals to maximise patient outcomes.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory mandates and participates in quality improvement activities.
