Job summary

NES Fircroft seeks an Overhead Line Network Designer to support electricity infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. The role blends office-based design with regular site visits, requiring coordination with landowners, stakeholders, project teams, and utility clients.

You will perform route assessments, surveys, and QA checks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements through the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in overhead line, utility, power or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with landowners/public.
• Knowledge of overhead line design and construction practices.
• Familiarity with electricity distribution network design standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS-based design tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits, surveys, route assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Engage with landowners and stakeholders to secure access and support delivery.
• Carry out GPS surveying and setting out activities.
• Produce feasibility, progress, and technical reports.
• Prepare and maintain Health & Safety documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with utility standards and regulations.
• Support construction teams with QA inspections and checks.
• Contribute to quality, environmental, and safety management systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safely and on schedule.
