Job summary

Zest Optical are currently working alongside a high-end independent opticians in County Mayo to recruit an Optical Assistant / Receptionist. This role is based across Castlebar and Ballinrobe with training provided for the right candidate.

Salary ranges from €30,000 to €36,000 DOE for a full-time position, Tue–Sat, with Sundays and Mondays off. The practice offers ongoing training and a supportive environment with plenty of patient-facing interaction.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months optical experience.
• Confident, professional and approachable.
• Reliable and well organised.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Saturdays are essential to the pattern.

Responsibilities

• Working across practices in Castlebar and Ballinrobe.
• Providing friendly, professional service to patients.
• Helping patients choose frames and lenses.
• Carrying out frame and lens dispensing.
• Supporting with pre-testing and clinics.
• Managing appointments and patient enquiries.
• Reception duties and taking payments.
• Making adjustments and providing aftercare.
• Supporting daily running of the practice.

Optical Assistant / Receptionist - Castlebar and Ballinrobe, County Mayo

€30,000 to €36,000 DOE | Full Time | Tuesday to Saturday

Zest Optical are currently working alongside a high-end independent opticians in County Mayo to recruit an Optical Assistant / Receptionist.

This is a varied position working across practices in Castlebar and Ballinrobe.

The practice is happy to provide training for the right person, with attitude, reliability and excellent customer service skills being just as important as previous optical experience.

Optical Assistant / Receptionist - Role

• Working across practices in Castlebar and Ballinrobe
• Providing a friendly and professional service to patients
• Helping patients choose suitable frames and lenses
• Carrying out frame and lens dispensing
• Supporting with pre-testing and clinics
• Managing appointments and patient enquiries
• Reception duties and taking payments
• Making adjustments and providing general aftercare
• Supporting the wider team with the daily running of the practice
• Working within a busy, patient-focused independent environment

Optical Assistant / Receptionist - Requirements

• Previous optical experience - at least 6 months
• Confident, professional and approachable
• Reliable and well organised
• Strong communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working across Castlebar and Ballinrobe - Working at one location may also be possible for the right candidate
• Saturdays are an essential part of the working pattern

Optical Assistant / Receptionist - Working Hours

• Full-time position preferred
• Tuesday to Saturday
• Sunday and Monday off
• Some flexibility may be available around the working pattern
• Part-time applicants will be considered if they already have optical experience, but Saturday availability is essential
