Job summary

Twilio’s platform observability team is hiring a Software Engineer to shape the foundation of our telemetry platform. You will drive the end-to-end architecture for observability components, focusing on reliability, scalability, and usability as Twilio rebuilds its telemetry flows into a unified OpenTelemetry-first stack.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and collaborate with platform engineering, SRE, and product teams to deliver scalable instrumentation across logs,

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building and scaling observability systems across logs, metrics, traces, and profiling.
• Experience driving architectural decisions for large-scale telemetry platforms.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
• Familiarity with high-cardinality telemetry and correlation techniques.
• Experience with Prometheus, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, Kafka, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of key observability platform components.
• Drive consistency and quality of observability signals across logs, metrics, traces, and profiling.
• Mentor engineers and align cross-team efforts with long-term goals.
• Work on high-cardinality telemetry and scalable data pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, SRE, and developer experience teams to integrate telemetry into workflows.
