Job summary

Sheen Falls Lodge Limited is seeking an experienced Night Porter to join the Front Office team. The role focuses on delivering thoughtful, discreet service while ensuring guest safety and a smooth night-to-morning transition.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years in a night-portering role at a luxury hotel, strong English communication, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. UK/EU work rights and a clean EU driving license are required.

• Two years’ experience in a Night Porter or comparable overnight hotel role within a luxury four-star or five-star hotel.
• Proven experience delivering attentive, professional guest service.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm, professional and discreet service, responding promptly to guest requests.
• Support overnight Reception operations, answering telephone calls and enquiries.
• Assist with late arrivals, early departures and luggage requirements.
• Serve overnight food and beverages in line with hotel service, hygiene and presentation standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of public areas with minimal disturbance to guests.
• Carry out regular security and fire safety checks and report concerns promptly.
• Record incidents and maintenance issues, providing clear handover to morning team.

Job description

At Sheen Falls Lodge, exceptional hospitality continues throughout the night. We are seeking an experienced, attentive and dependable Night Porter to join our Front Office team, helping to create a welcoming, peaceful and secure environment for our guests.

This role will suit a hospitality professional who takes pride in thoughtful service, immaculate presentation and attention to detail. You will anticipate guests’ needs, respond calmly to unexpected situations and help ensure a seamless transition between evening and morning operations.

Your Role

Working closely with the Front Office team and Duty Manager, you will care for our guests and the property overnight, consistently delivering the standards expected of a luxury hotel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a warm, professional and discreet service, responding promptly to guest requests and anticipating individual needs.
• Support overnight Reception operations, answering telephone calls and enquiries accurately and courteously.
• Assist with late arrivals, early departures and luggage requirements in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Serve overnight food and beverages in line with hotel service, hygiene and presentation standards.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public areas, completing scheduled overnight cleaning with minimal disturbance to guests.
• Carry out and record regular security and fire safety checks, monitoring access and reporting concerns promptly.
• Remain familiar with emergency procedures, evacuation arrangements and designated responsibilities; respond within your training and elevate appropriately.
• Handle guest concerns and unexpected incidents calmly and professionally, seeking assistance from the Duty Manager when required.
• Protect guest privacy and handle guest information, keys and hotel property securely.
• Record incidents, outstanding requests and maintenance issues, providing a clear handover to the morning team.
• Use initiative, prioritise tasks effectively and work collaboratively to maintain consistent service throughout the night.

Applicants must demonstrate the following in their application:

• A minimum of two years’ experience in a Night Porter or comparable overnight hotel role within a luxury four-star or five-star hotel.
• Proven experience delivering attentive, professional guest service.
• Excellent proven spoken and written English.
• Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm.
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain close attention to detail.
• Availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in line with the roster.
• A full, clean EU driving licence.
• Existing permission to live and work in Ireland without restriction.
