The Heights Hotel Killarney is seeking a reliable Night Porter to oversee hotel operations during night shifts in a historic, family-run property in Killarney. You will manage front desk tasks, respond to guest needs, and support night staff to maintain high service standards.

Joining a team with a 50-year legacy, you’ll contribute to safe, smooth overnight operations, including security checks, late check-ins, and preparation for early breakfast service, while ensuring adherence to hotel

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel night roles or supervisory positions is preferred.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee night operations and ensure a seamless guest experience.
• Handle late check-ins, early check-outs, and guest requests efficiently.
• Supervise and support night porters and other night staff.
• Conduct regular security checks and ensure guest safety.
• Handle inquiries, complaints and emergencies professionally.
• Assist in setting up for early breakfast service or events as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations.
• Perform end-of-day financial reconciliations and prepare reports for management.
• Liaise with the day team to ensure a smooth handover.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are seeking a dedicated and responsible Night Porter to oversee the smooth running of hotel operations during night shifts.

Job Overview

The Night Porter will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of guests during the night. This role involves supervising night staff, handling guest requests, managing front desk operations, and ensuring all hotel standards are maintained overnight.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee night operations, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
• Handle late check‑ins, early check‑outs, and guest requests efficiently.
• Supervise and support night porters and other night staff.
• Conduct regular security checks and ensure guest safety.
• Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and emergencies in a professional manner.
• Assist in setting up for early breakfast service or events as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations.
• Perform end‑of‑day financial reconciliations and prepare reports for management.
• Liaise with the day team to ensure a smooth handover.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a hotel night role or supervisory position preferred.
• Strong customer service and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Basic IT skills and familiarity with hotel booking systems (training can be provided).
• Understanding of security procedures and health & safety regulations.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
