Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Network Development Engineer to drive deployment, scaling and automation of one of the world’s largest networks: AWS Direct Connect. You will support and evolve our global IP network, collaborating with network engineering, deployment, and security teams to ensure reliability, cost efficiency and scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and identifying the root cause of issues.
• Automation or scripting experience (Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, Shell).
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (BGP, OSPF and other RS technologies).

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain our next generation networks.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Work closely with our broader Network Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
• Drive standards across the network and ensure compliance to those standards and policies.
• Participate in and drive impact mitigation during large-scale events using an established Event Management process.
• Drive event debriefs for large-scale events and document corrective actions to completion.
• Improve detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts.
• Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues and new SOPs.
• Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues including network device configuration and low level application interaction.
• Identify and drive opportunities to automate repeatable tasks via scripts and tools.
