Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Ireland is seeking a Network Development Engineer to help deploy, scale, and automate one of the world’s largest networks: AWS Direct Connect. You will collaborate with network engineering, deployment, and security teams to deliver reliable connections from customer premises to the AWS cloud.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, scripting, and IP networking knowledge, plus experience with large-scale networks, on-call rotation, and travel to data

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of network issues.
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, RS).
• Experience with automation or scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain our next generation networks.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Work closely with Network Engineering & Deployment teams for operational readiness of new deployments.
• Drive standards across the network and ensure compliance with policies.
• Participate in large-scale events using an established Event Management process.
• Drive event deep dives, produce documentation, and implement corrective actions.
• Improve detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts.
• Create and review docs and procedures for recurring issues and SOPs.
• Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues including device config and lower-level interactions.
• Identify opportunities to automate through scripts and tools.
