Job summary

Nicoll Curtin Limited is seeking a MQ Engineer to join our client’s team in Dublin on a permanent basis. The role requires onsite presence in Dublin three days a week to design, deploy, and maintain messaging queue environments.

You will manage queues, clustering, security controls, and monitoring across Linux/Unix platforms, with automation via Shell, Ansible, or Python, and work with Kafka and Solace for event-driven architectures.

Qualifications

• Experience managing messaging systems in distributed environments.
• Strong clustering, security implementation, and performance optimisation.
• Linux/Unix expertise with scripting/automation (Shell, Ansible, Python).
• Understanding of event-driven systems and event broker technologies.
• Proven experience supporting high-volume, production messaging platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain, and upgrade messaging queue manager environments on Linux/Unix.
• Oversee and configure messaging components: queues, channels, listeners, clustering, HA.
• Establish and manage TLS, certificates, and channel authentication rules.
• Monitor environments, diagnose issues with connectivity, queues, and performance.
• Conduct capacity assessments and disaster recovery exercises; drive automation.
• Provide infra support for event streaming platforms like Kafka and Solace.
• Develop and uphold standards, governance, and best practices for messaging systems.

Our client is looking for a MQ(message queue) Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be based in Dublin, with a requirement to be onsite 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain, and upgrade messaging queue manager environments on Linux/Unix systems.
• Oversee and configure messaging components such as queues, communication channels, listeners, clustering, and high-availability architectures.
• Establish and manage security controls for messaging platforms, including TLS encryption, certificate management, and channel authentication rules.
• Proactively monitor messaging environments, diagnosing and resolving issues related to channel connectivity, queue backlogs, and overall system performance.
• Conduct capacity assessments, support disaster recovery exercises, and drive automation initiatives across the platform.
• Provide infrastructure-level support for event streaming technologies, including platforms such as Kafka and Solace.
• Develop and uphold operational standards, governance policies, and best practices for messaging systems.
