Job summary

ZeroOne, a specialist MEP design solutions company focused on European data centre projects, is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Site Engineer to support installation, testing, and commissioning across Europe. The role includes review of design/tender docs, coordination with architects and contractors, and comprehensive site documentation.

Qualifications

• 2–8 years of experience in MEP site engineering, construction support, or mission-critical facility delivery.
• Working knowledge of MEP systems and site documentation tools (AutoCAD/Revit).
• Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO) and Tier requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and quality-check MEP installations against design packages and safety standards.
• Support and lead testing and commissioning activities, including IST where required.
• Review design/tender docs for constructability and compliance as scope grows.
• Set out works and verify activities meet drawings and specs.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and ZeroOne teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain snagging, punch-list, and defect closure through handover.
• Prepare technical and progress reports for stakeholders.

Job description

Support and help lead the on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for Data Centre projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to design intent. The scope of ownership you take on will range from supporting a Lead/Senior Site Engineer to independently leading site delivery and Tier-compliant commissioning. This will scale with your experience level.

Location

Remote or Hybrid with travel to European client sites as required. Locations include Dublin, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the Nordics.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and quality-check MEP installations — power, cooling, and critical fluid systems — against approved design packages and safety standards.
• Support and, with experience, lead testing and commissioning activities, including Integrated Systems Testing (IST) where required, recording results and tracking outstanding items through to Tier compliance.
• Review consultant and contractor design/tender documentation for constructability and compliance as scope grows.
• Set out works and verify construction activities are carried out in accordance with project drawings and specifications.

Site Coordination & Quality

• Conduct site inspections and quality audits against design specifications, safety standards, and client governance.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and ZeroOne teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
• Maintain snagging, punch-list, and defect-closure tracking through to handover.
• Maintain accurate site records, surveys, inspection reports, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and as-built documentation.

Safety & Compliance

• Uphold site safety standards and jurisdictional codes throughout installation and commissioning.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support 24/7 responsiveness during critical commissioning phases as required.

Reporting & Development

• Prepare technical and progress reports for stakeholders and clients.
• As experience grows, mentor junior site engineers and Flex Team resources on MEP best practice.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–8 years' experience in MEP site engineering, construction support, or mission-critical facility delivery.
• Working knowledge of MEP systems, AutoCAD/Revit, and site documentation tools; growing familiarity with CSA disciplines, Uptime Institute Tier requirements, relevant industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO), and core building systems (HV/LV electrical, mechanical cooling, fire protection, BMS) expected with experience.
• Data centre or mission-critical facility experience is a strong advantage.
• Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union and be able to provide evidence of their work authorization if requested.

Preferred Certifications

• Chartered Engineer status, held or working towards.
• Prince2 Foundation, or PMP for project governance exposure (nice to have).

Preferred

• Prior hyperscale or colocation data centre commissioning experience.
• Experience with AE/EoR delivery models, RFIs/submittals, and change-control workflows.
