MEP Design Lead – Pre-Construction (International)

Job summary

Kenton Black is seeking an experienced MEP Manager for its international pre-construction team in Maynooth, County Kildare. You will lead MEP design coordination, engage with clients, consultants and internal teams to ensure robust, buildable solutions ahead of construction.

Ideal candidates will have strong MEP management experience on complex projects, with a focus on design coordination, risk management and delivering on programme targets across sites internationally.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in an MEP management role within construction.
• Experience on complex projects, ideally Data Centres, Pharmaceuticals or advanced manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, design coordination and construction methodologies.
• Experience working with consultants, designers, clients and contractors.
• Ability to identify issues early and drive practical, buildable solutions.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• A commercial and programme-focused approach to design development.
• Experience in pre-construction or design environments is advantageous.
• Ability to work across international projects with teams in different locations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the MEP design process throughout pre-construction.
• Review and develop MEP designs to ensure they are coordinated, buildable and meet project requirements.
• Work closely with design consultants, clients and internal project teams.
• Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural and other disciplines.
• Identify potential design issues, clashes and risks at an early stage and drive solutions.
• Provide technical input into tenders, proposals and project development.
• Review specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
• Support value engineering and identify opportunities to improve design, cost and buildability.
• Ensure MEP requirements are clearly understood and incorporated into project programmes.
• Work alongside commercial and project teams to ensure projects are fully developed before moving into construction.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the wider pre-construction and design teams.
• Help ensure projects are delivered in line with quality, safety, programme and client requirements.
