Medserv in Ireland is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to handle daily processing of invoices and patient claims, liaising with doctors, hospitals and insurers. The role includes data extraction and analysis, and training new team members as needed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, Excel proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment within an office-based, full-time role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Process invoices and claims in line with SLAs.
• Review and manage patient claims while ensuring accuracy.

• Ensure claims meet insurer and hospital requirements for reimbursement.
• Handle insurer and hospital returns and claim queries.
• Answer internal/external queries via phone and email.
• Train and mentor less experienced team members.

About the role:

As a Medical Billing Specialist, the core of the role will revolve around the daily processing of invoices and claim forms for all patient claims, to following up on outstanding accounts with clients such as doctors, hospitals, and insurers. Your day can vary, though, from data extraction and analysis to training new team members or learning how to use a new system.

Responsibilities:

• Efficient processing of various documents provided by different entities to generate invoices and claims in line with the company’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Reviewing, processing, and managing patient claims while ensuring accuracy and compliance with client, hospital, and insurer requirements.
• Following up on unpaid invoices and claims with hospitals, insurers, and patients, identifying trends and resolving issues to maximise reimbursement and reduce payment delays.
• Ensuring all claims meet the standards, rules, and requirements of insurance companies, hospitals, and clients to achieve maximum reimbursement and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
• Handling insurer and hospital returns, corrections, and claim-related queries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
• Answering internal and external telephone enquiries from colleagues, clients, hospitals, and insurers, maintaining a professional approach and providing accurate information.
• Responding to daily email and ticketing system queries from internal and external stakeholders within agreed timeframes, while managing additional correspondence as required.
• Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, hospitals, insurers, and other key stakeholders.
• Attending and participating in training programmes, while providing guidance, mentorship, and support to less experienced team members.
• Performing additional duties and projects as assigned by management to support departmental and organisational objectives

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience in healthcare or insurance sector
• Knowledge of the Irish healthcare system or private practice environment
