Job summary

Designer Group in Ireland is seeking a Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical) to lead tender compilation, procurement strategy and cost control on M&E projects.

You will manage sub-contractor terms, risk analysis, cost reporting and contract advice, working closely with the Commercial Director and estimation team.

A third-level degree in Quantity Surveying and at least five years' mechanical QS experience are required; strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

  • Third-level degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail with an analytical approach.
  • Ability to work with initiative and drive.

Responsibilities

  • Placement of sub-contract orders with the relevant manager/buying department.
  • Evaluate terms/conditions of sub-contractors/contracts with emphasis on risk, program, terms & conditions, and design responsibility.
  • Prepare Tender Risk Analysis based on standard format and contract documentation including bill of quantities.
  • Run accurate Commercial Cost Control Reports on projects identifying committed costs and forecast costs for materials, sub-contracts and labour plus preliminaries.
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks with the Commercial Director.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims—analysing outcomes and forecasting/reporting as required.
  • Prepare and present monthly company reports at each project and/or business review, in line with company formats and standards.
  • Assist the Commercial Director in the preparation of monthly commercial reports.
  • Assist the Estimation Department from time to time on preparation of estimates.
  • Ensure that client relationships are enhanced to maximise current and future opportunities.
