Job summary

Synergy Recruitment Partners in Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer (AP) for a data centre operations role responsible for best-in-class operation and maintenance of critical power generation equipment. You will monitor systems, implement procedures and SSOW, perform equipment checks, manage LOTO, and coordinate with vendors in a high-availability environment.

The role suits someone with power generation experience who can interpret data and follow established protocols.

Qualifications

  • NFQ Level 6 (Tradesperson) or equivalent in Mechanical discipline; an Engineering degree is desirable.
  • Proven track record in a mission-critical or power generation environment.
  • Strong IT literacy and familiarity with CMMS platforms; experience with BMS monitoring and LOTO processes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect site M&E systems daily, monitor BMS alarms, and execute emergency operating procedures to maintain safe, optimal environmental conditions.
  • Manage incoming event notifications, perform root-cause troubleshooting, and escalated issues in line with contractual SLAs.
  • Oversee third-party vendors, manage LOTO practices, and issue permits to work while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records, produce performance reports, assist maintenance teams, and conduct thorough shift handovers.

Job description

Excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer (AP), for a key role in Data Centre Operations to provides best in class operation and maintenance for in critical power generation sites.

The role focuses on system monitoring, implementation of procedures and SSOW, equipment checks and system maintenance and repairs for the client equipment in a mission critical environment.

The role would suit a candidate with experience primarily within power generation environment who possesses the skills necessary to effectively interpret data from multiple sources, react promptly to event notifications and follow established procedures to rectify and elevate issues, in line with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Monitoring: Inspect site M&E systems daily, monitor BMS alarms, and execute emergency operating procedures to maintain safe, optimal environmental conditions.
  • Incidents & SLAs: Manage incoming event notifications, perform root-cause troubleshooting, and escalated issues in line with contractual SLAs.
  • Safety & Vendor Control: Oversee third-party vendors, manage LOTO practices, and issue permits to work while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
  • Shift Support & Reporting: Maintain accurate CMMS records, produce performance reports, assist maintenance teams, and conduct thorough shift handovers.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: NFQ Level 6 (Tradesperson) or equivalent in a Mechanical discipline. An Engineering degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience: Proven track record in a mission-critical or power generation environment.
  • Technical Skills: Sound understanding of LOTO, hazardous energy, permit systems, and BMS monitoring.
  • Core Competencies: Strong IT literacy (SOP/EOP writing), familiarity with CMMS platforms, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced shift environment.
