Job summary

Synergy Recruitment Partners is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Shift Engineer (AP) for a critical Data Centre Operations role, delivering best-in-class operation and maintenance for client power generation assets.

You will monitor systems, implement procedures and SSOW, perform LV switching, manage UPS/battery systems, and oversee safety and contractor governance, with robust reporting and shift handovers. The role requires strong data interpretation and escalation skills.

Qualifications

• NFQ Level 6 in Electrical discipline (Tradesperson) or equivalent.
• Engineering degree is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily M&E site inspections and monitor BMS alarms.
• Carry out emergency action procedures to preserve uptime and environmental standards.
• Conduct LV electrical switching and testing, maintain UPS/battery systems.

Job description

Excellent opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Shift Engineer (AP) for a key role in Data Centre Operations, which provides best in class operation and maintenance for our customers critical power generation sites.

The role focuses on system monitoring, implementation of procedures and SSOW, equipment checks and system maintenance and repairs for the client equipment.

The role would suit a candidate who possesses the skills necessary to effectively interpret data from multiple sources, react promptly to event notifications and follow established procedures to rectify and escalation issues, in line with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Monitoring: Perform daily M&E site inspections, monitor BMS alarms, and carry out emergency action procedures to preserve uptime and environmental standards.
• Electrical & Maintenance Support: Conduct LV electrical switching and testing, maintain UPS/battery systems, and support overall site maintenance activities.
• Safety & Vendor Governance: Issue permits to work, enforce LOTO/hazardous energy practices, and supervise third-party contractors to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Reporting & Administration: Log work in asset management tools, write performance reports, and deliver clear, structured shift handovers.

Requirements

• Qualifications: NFQ Level 6 (Tradesperson) or equivalent in an Electrical discipline. An Engineering degree is desirable but not essential.
• Core Technical Skills: Practical experience in LV electrical switching, testing, and UPS/battery system maintenance.
• Safety & Systems: Strong knowledge of LOTO, permit-to-work systems, BMS monitoring, and SOP/EOP development.
• Experience: Background in a mission-critical or power generation environment with solid IT, CMMS, and communication skills.
