Job summary

NRL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a site-based role in Limerick, Ireland. The successful candidate will lead mechanical and building services activities, oversee MEP design, installation and commissioning, and ensure integration with other disciplines across projects.

The role emphasises compliance, collaboration with clients and regulators, and mentoring junior staff in a leading life sciences/construction environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Significant experience leading mechanical/MEP within construction.
• Strong knowledge of statutory, regulatory and contractual compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for mechanical and building services activities.
• Oversee design, installation, commissioning and handover of MEP systems.
• Ensure integration of mechanical systems with structural, architectural and civil works.
• Review and approve technical documentation and specifications for compliance.
• Monitor project performance, risk and compliance for all MEP elements.
• Lead design coordination and construction methodology improvements.
• Lead investigations into technical incidents and share lessons learned.
• Mentor and support technical staff to develop knowledge and capabilities.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and regulators to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for all mechanical and building services activities.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Professional membership (CIBSE, IET or equivalent).
• Postgraduate qualification in Building Services, Engineering Management or Sustainability.
• Experience with BIM for MEP, digital engineering or smart technologies.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency, carbon management and sustainability frameworks.
