Job summary

Brightpath Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Building Services Engineer to join a Tier 1 main contractor's Life Sciences team in Limerick, leading the technical delivery of mechanical and MEP services on a major pharmaceutical project.

You will oversee design, installation, commissioning and handover, coordinate with structural and architectural works, manage BIM and ensure health and safety compliance, with clear opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Proven experience in MEP delivery on large construction projects.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centre or other complex projects desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation and commissioning.

About the Role

The Mechanical Engineer / Building Services Engineer will lead the technical delivery of mechanical and MEP services, working closely with engineering, construction, commissioning and client teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead mechanical and MEP design, installation, commissioning and handover
• Coordinate MEP services with structural, architectural and civil works
• Manage BIM and design coordination
• Monitor technical delivery, programme, quality and compliance
• Provide technical support and leadership to project teams
• Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, regulatory and contractual requirements

What We're Looking For

• Degree or professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience in MEP / Building Services delivery on large‑scale construction projects
• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, data centre or other complex projects highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation and commissioning
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience with BIM / digital engineering desirable
• CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent professional membership desirable

Experience with GMP, cleanrooms, commissioning or regulated environments would be an advantage.
