Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our client’s team in Castlebar, Mayo, delivering major engineering projects across Ireland. Candidates should have 2+ years’ experience, a Level 7 Mechanical Engineering degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM.

The role involves supporting project managers, ensuring safety and quality, mentoring juniors, and progressing technical and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical installations and multidisciplinary tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability policies.
• Prepare and review technical documents including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and drawings.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and the site team for project delivery.
• Monitor progress on site and report to management.
• Mentor junior staff and support ongoing learning.

About Your New Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will support project managers in the execution and delivery of engineering assignments, with responsibility for mechanical installations and exposure to multidisciplinary works. You’ll play a key part in project operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards and progressing through technical and leadership responsibilities.

Main Duties:

• Oversee mechanical installations and collaborate on multidisciplinary engineering tasks
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability policies
• Prepare and review technical documents, including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and technical drawings
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and the site team for project delivery
• Monitor progress onsite and report to management
• Maintain quality standards, lead site inspections, and complete project handover documentation
• Mentor junior staff and encourage continuous learning

What Skills You Need

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar engineering role
• Level 7 Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM) and MS Office
• In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
• Full clean driving license
