Job summary

GPC - Global Professional Consultants seeks a Mechanical Construction Manager for a major Data Centre project in Europe. The role reports to the Mechanical Project Manager and offers career progression opportunities and strong support.

Responsibilities include leading pipework installations, risk assessments, procurement oversight, and ensuring safety standards. A degree in Building Services/ Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in a similar role are required, with Data Centre experience

Qualifications

• Experience with M&E contractors in Ireland or the UK.
• Proven track record leading large teams.
• Data Centre project experience advantageous.

• Maintain labour resources and two-week look-ahead schedules and manage project progress.
• Ensure compliance and safety standards are met and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Mechanical Construction Manager required to join one of Europes leading Tier 1 Main Contractors on a Data Centre project in Portugal. The successful candidate would be reporting into the Mechanical Project Manager and will be provided excellent support and career progression opportunities.

Duties

• Manage client communications and coordinate with the project team to ensure scheduled installation of pipework.
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and ensure all HVAC deliverables meet project and safety standards.
• Oversee project handover from estimating and manage technical procurement of equipment, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Document and cost scope changes, and support preparation of monthly valuations and final accounts.
• Maintain and manage labour resources and project schedules with a two-week look-ahead plan.
• Ensure all compliance and safety standards are met, including subcontractor safety, continuous improvement of work practices, and maintaining high housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or relevant Mechanical trade background.
• 5 Years+ experience in a similar role.
• Must have worked with an M&E Contractor in Ireland or the UK.
• Proven track record of having led teams on large projects with tight deadlines.
• Experience working on Data Centre projects would be advantageous.
• Proficient in MS Office.
