Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Master Scheduler to join a busy manufacturing and design environment. The Master Scheduler will play a critical role in ensuring efficient production scheduling, on-time project delivery and optimum utilisation of resources to meet customer requirements and industry standards. This position will take ownership of the master scheduling and end-to-end project programming process, from initial design through to final delivery. Working as a central point of coordination, the Master Scheduler will provide clear visibility of project progress, production requirements, resource capacity, procurement timelines and delivery commitments across the business. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production and Project Management, ensuring all functions have accurate and timely information to support effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and own the Master Production Schedule (MPS), ensuring alignment with project timelines, customer requirements and available capacity.

Develop and manage comprehensive project programmes across all active projects.

Provide a unified scheduling system that gives all departments clear visibility of project and production status.

Take ownership of project programming independently of individual Project Managers.

Map and track procurement timelines for all long‑lead items.

Monitor required order dates and expected delivery dates to proactively identify potential bottlenecks.

Track project progress against agreed programmes and milestones.

Clearly identify, document and communicate delays resulting from client requirements, outstanding information or engineering approvals.

Dynamically adjust schedules to accommodate design changes, material availability and unforeseen production delays.

Ensure schedule changes are communicated effectively to all relevant stakeholders.

Maintain a strong focus on factory efficiency while ensuring customer and project commitments are achieved.

  • Resource & Capacity Planning

Develop detailed, resource‑loaded production plans using man‑hour requirements rather than basic visual scheduling blocks.

Analyse production capacity against project requirements and delivery commitments.

Provide long‑term visibility of labour requirements and available capacity.

Forecast subcontractor and external labour requirements based on planned production hours.

Work closely with production management to ensure workforce requirements are aligned with project milestones.

Identify resource constraints at an early stage and develop mitigation plans.

Support workforce optimisation and efficient utilisation of available resources.

Incorporate transportation and transit lead times into overall project programmes.

Ensure products are prepared in line with agreed shipping and collection dates.

Monitor shipment progress and proactively address transportation delays.

Coordinate export requirements and ensure all necessary documentation is completed prior to collection.

Work with logistics providers to ensure compliance with international shipping requirements.

Ensure required documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, packing lists and transport permits, is accurate and available when required.

Provide visibility of shipment status and expected delivery dates to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

  • Inventory, Systems & Process Optimisation

Optimise workflow processes to reduce lead times, minimise downtime and improve overall project delivery.

Work closely with Supply Chain, Yard Managers and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available and moved efficiently to manufacturing areas.

Monitor material availability against production requirements.

Identify potential material shortages or delays that could impact the production programme.

Use ERP/MRP systems to plan, track and manage scheduling information.

Maintain high levels of scheduling data accuracy and system visibility.

Ensure live production information is reflected accurately within the scheduling system.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across production planning and scheduling processes.

  • Schedule Audits & Reporting

Conduct regular audits of project schedules to identify deviations from agreed programmes.

Identify bottlenecks, delays and areas of underperformance.

Carry out structured root‑cause analysis on schedule deviations.

Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

Provide accurate and meaningful production and scheduling KPIs to management.

Produce data‑driven reports to support business and operational decision‑making.

Provide clear visual project timelines for internal management and external clients.

Highlight potential risks to programme, production capacity and delivery commitments.

  • Stakeholder Management

Act as the central scheduling point between Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production and Project Management.

Maintain clear communication regarding programme changes, deadlines, resource requirements and project risks.

Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve scheduling conflicts.

Ensure stakeholders understand key project milestones and dependencies.

Manage expectations around production capacity and delivery timelines.
