Job summary

Force Recruitment and Outsourcing seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will drive process improvements, reduce waste and costs, and ensure safe, efficient production that meets quality standards.

Working with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Design and Supply Chain, you will identify improvement opportunities and implement practical engineering solutions across stainless steel operations, with hands-on manufacturing experience in metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, improve and standardise manufacturing processes for stainless steel products and components.
• Analyse production processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, waste and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop manufacturing methods, process flows, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Support the introduction of new products from design through to production.
• Review product designs from a manufacturing perspective and recommend improvements for manufacturability, cost and quality.
• Establish appropriate tooling, fixtures, jigs and production equipment requirements.
• Improve production layouts, material flow and workstation efficiency.
• Support the selection, installation and commissioning of new machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, process specifications and engineering standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes, increasing productivity, reducing waste and production costs, and ensuring that products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Design and Supply Chain teams, the Manufacturing Engineer will identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement practical engineering solutions across our stainless steel manufacturing operations.

The role will suit an engineer with strong hands-on manufacturing experience who enjoys working in a production environment and has a practical understanding of metal fabrication and stainless steel processing.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Process Engineering

• Develop, improve and standardise manufacturing processes for stainless steel products and components.
• Analyse production processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, waste and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop manufacturing methods, process flows, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Support the introduction of new products from design through to production.
• Review product designs from a manufacturing perspective and recommend improvements for manufacturability, cost and quality.
• Establish appropriate tooling, fixtures, jigs and production equipment requirements.
• Improve production layouts, material flow and workstation efficiency.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, root-cause analysis and other improvement methodologies.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, labour costs and material consumption.
• Use production data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Quality & Problem Solving

• Work closely with the Quality team to investigate manufacturing defects and customer complaints.
• Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Use structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis and FMEA.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure manufacturing processes are designed and operated in accordance with company health and safety requirements.
• Identify engineering-related hazards and implement appropriate risk controls.
• Support machinery risk assessments and safe systems of work.
