Job summary

Force in Co. Wexford, Ireland, is seeking an Engineering Technician to support engineering and manufacturing of bespoke stainless-steel products.

You will develop practical engineering solutions, produce technical documentation and work with Design Engineers, CAD Technicians, Production, Fabrication and Welding teams to ensure products are manufacturable and meet quality standards. Qualifications

• Ideally, a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD/Design Engineering or related.
• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment would be beneficial.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings.
• Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with design and development of stainless-steel products and systems.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
• Develop practical engineering solutions to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Assist with modifications and improvements to existing designs.
• Review designs to ensure they are suitable for manufacture and assembly.
• Support new product development and continuous improvement projects.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Produce detailed 2D engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Add dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and manufacturing information.
• Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Generate manufacturing files for laser cutting and CNC processes.

• Follow drawing procedures and ensure revisions are current.

Engineering Technician

Job Purpose

The Engineering Technician will support the engineering and manufacturing functions by developing practical engineering solutions, producing technical documentation and supporting the manufacture of bespoke stainless-steel products and systems.

The role involves working closely with Design Engineers, CAD Technicians, Production, Fabrication and Welding teams to ensure products are designed correctly and can be manufactured efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

• Assist engineers with the design and development of stainless-steel products and systems.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
• Develop practical engineering solutions to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Assist with modifications and improvements to existing designs.
• Review designs to ensure they are suitable for manufacture and assembly.
• Support new product development and continuous improvement projects.

CAD & Technical Drawings

• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies, using software such as SolidWorks.
• Produce detailed 2D engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Add dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and manufacturing information.
• Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Generate manufacturing files where required, including information for laser cutting and CNC processes.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and engineering documentation.

Manufacturing Support

A major part of the role would be understanding what happens after the drawing leaves the engineering department.

The Engineering Technician would:

• Work with fabrication and production teams to resolve technical issues.
• Assist with problems relating to cutting, bending, forming, welding and assembly.
• Identify opportunities to make designs easier, faster or more economical to manufacture.
• Review completed products against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Make design changes where manufacturing issues are identified.
• Provide technical support to production when required.

Engineering Documentation

• Maintain accurate engineering drawings and records.
• Follow company drawing and documentation procedures.
• Ensure drawings are issued with the correct revisions.
• Assist in preparing technical information for manufacturing and projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering and company standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Ideally, candidates would have:

• A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, ManufacturingEngineering, Engineering Technology, CAD/Design Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment would be beneficial.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings.
• Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication and stainless-steel manufacturing would be highly desirable.
